Head of Automobile Assembly

Location: Lagos, Nigeria

Reports To: GM Automotive Group

Job Summary:

The Head of Automobile Assembly will oversee the entire assembly line operations within the company. This role is crucial for ensuring that vehicles are assembled efficiently, meet quality standards, and are produced within set timelines. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in automobile assembly, strong leadership skills, and a thorough understanding of manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assembly Line Management:

o Oversee all aspects of the automobile assembly process from start to finish.

o Ensure assembly lines operate smoothly and efficiently.

o Monitor production schedules to meet deadlines and production targets.

  1. Quality Control:

o Implement stringent quality control procedures to ensure all vehicles meet company and industry standards.

o Conduct regular inspections and audits of the assembly process.

o Address any issues or defects promptly to maintain high-quality output.

  1. Team Leadership:

o Lead, mentor, and motivate assembly line staff.

o Conduct training programs to enhance the skills of the assembly team.

o Foster a positive and productive work environment.

  1. Process Improvement:

o Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.

o Implement Lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement strategies.

o Collaborate with the engineering team to refine assembly processes.

  1. Safety and Compliance:

o Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations within the assembly line.

o Implement safety protocols to prevent accidents and injuries.

o Maintain a safe working environment for all employees.

  1. Inventory and Resource Management:

o Manage the inventory of parts and materials required for assembly.

o Coordinate with the procurement team to ensure timely availability of components.

o Optimize the use of resources to minimize waste and reduce costs.

  1. Reporting and Documentation:

o Prepare and submit regular reports on assembly line performance, production metrics, and quality standards.

o Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of all assembly activities.

o Provide insights and recommendations to senior management based on data analysis.

Qualifications:

* Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.

* Minimum of 15 years of experience in automobile assembly or manufacturing.

* Strong knowledge of assembly line processes and Lean manufacturing principles.

* Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

* Strong leadership and communication skills.

* Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

* Knowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirements.
