Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and knowledgeable School Librarian to join our educational institution. As a School Librarian, you will play a vital role in promoting literacy, supporting research, and fostering a love for reading among students. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in library science, excellent organizational skills, and a passion for supporting students’ educational journeys.  


  • Library Management
  • Oversee the overall management and operations of the school library, ensuring an inviting and well-organized environment for students and staff.
  • Develop and maintain an up-to-date collection of books, reference materials, digital resources, and other educational materials.
  • Implement library policies and procedures, including cataloging, classification, circulation, and inventory management.
  • Assist students and staff in locating and utilizing library resources, providing guidance on research techniques, and promoting information literacy.
  • Support students in selecting age-appropriate books and materials that align with their interests and reading levels.
  • Collaborate with teachers to integrate library resources into the curriculum and support classroom instruction.
  • Plan and organize library programs, such as reading clubs, book fairs, author visits, and other literary events to promote reading and engage students in library activities.
  • Stay updated on library technologies and digital resources to enhance access to information and support digital literacy.
  • Assist students in utilizing online databases, e-books, and other digital resources for research and learning purposes.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot library technology, including computers, printers, scanners, and other multimedia equipment.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other staff members to integrate library resources and services into the school’s educational programs.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities, conferences, and workshops to stay abreast of current trends and best practices in library science.
  • Engage in professional networking and contribute to the library community through active involvement in professional organizations.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Library Science, Information Science, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 2 to 5 years of experience as a School Librarian or in a similar role.
  • Deep knowledge of library management principles, including cataloging, classification, and collection development.
  • Familiarity with library technologies, digital resources, and online research tools.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage and collaborate with students, staff, and parents.
  • Passion for promoting reading, information literacy, and lifelong learning.
  • Ability to create a welcoming and inclusive library environment that caters to the needs and interests of diverse students.
  • Proficiency in using library software, systems, and databases.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of the school community
