Public Health Research Officer (Post-Abortion Care)
Location: Abuja, Nigeria (with occasional state travel)
Contract: Hybrid – 2 days per week on-site, 3 months (renewable)
Compensation: ₦500,000 – ₦600,000 per month
Reports to: Project Lead / Principal Investigator.


Role Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated Public Health Research Officer to lead the coordination of a short-term implementation study focused on post-abortion care. The successful candidate will play a central role in protocol development, stakeholder engagement, site activation, and oversight of study activities. This is a fast-paced role that requires strong organizational, research, and communication skills to ensure timely and effective project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft the concept note, study protocol, and work plan for the research project.
  • Lead stakeholder mapping, engagement, and kickoff meetings at the national level.
  • Support ethics submissions and secure facility permissions.
  • Organize and supervise baseline
  • facility assessments and readiness checks.
    Facilitate the training and orientation of facility teams.
  • Track implementation progress, manage risks, and ensure timely documentation.
  • Prepare weekly updates, monthly progress reports, and an end-of-quarter report with renewal recommendations.
  • Deliverables Within 3 Months.
  • Completed concept note and study protocol; ethics submission lodged.
  • Stakeholder map and kickoff meetings documented.
  • Facility permissions secured and baseline assessments completed.
  • Monthly progress summaries shared with leadership.
  • End-of-quarter report with recommendations for renewal.
  • Minimum Requirements
  • Master’s degree in Public Health, Reproductive Health, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience coordinating health research or program implementation.
  • Demonstrated experience in sexual and reproductive health (SRH) projects.
  • Strong planning, organizational, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Excellent communication and report-writing abilities.
  • Willingness to travel and commitment to confidentiality and safeguarding.


Nice to Have

  • Prior experience in maternal health or post-abortion care programs.

Familiarity with quality improvement or service delivery strengthening approaches.
